Being imbued with President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching, i.e. “No matter how difficult it is, we must continue to emulate in good teaching and good learning”, the Party Committee and Board of Directors of Logistics College 1 have been synchronously implementing solutions to improve the quality of education and training, meeting the task requirements in the new situation.
Formerly known as the Military Medical Intermediate School, established on 25 November 1966, Logistics College 1 has gone through 60 years of establishment, growth, and gradually-affirmed position as a reputable training institution in the Army.
A milestone in the school's development was the implementation of Decision No. 278/QĐ-BQP dated 27 January 2021, by the Minister of National Defence. This decision transferred the school from the Military Medical Academy to the General Department of Logistics (now the General Department of Logistics and Technique) and officially named it Logistics College 1. From an institution specialising in military medicine and pharmacy, the school was tasked with training and fostering logistics personnel in military supplies, military medicine, petroleum, and barracks; providing civilian training according to the quotas of the Defence Ministry; and conducting scientific research, application, and technology transfer to meet the requirements of building the Military Logistics -Technics sector in the new situation.
To successfully complete their assigned functions and tasks, alongside focusing on comprehensive leadership and direction on all fields of work, the College’s Party Committee and Board of Directors have thoroughly grasped and strictly implemented Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW dated 18 May 2021, by the Politburo (13th tenure) on continuing to implement Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated 15 May 2016, by the Politburo (12th tenure), and Directive No. 87-CT/QUTW dated 8 July 2016, by the Standing Committee of Central Military Commission (CMC) on “Promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style in the Military Party Committee and the entire army” as a central and continuous task, a foundational solution to create internal motivation and spiritual strength for improving the education and training quality, building the College into a solid development in the new era.

Imbued with President Ho Chi Minh's teaching: “Emulation is patriotism, and to be patriotic, one must emulate. Those who emulate are the most patriotic people”, the College’s Party Committee and Board of Directors have focused their leadership and direction on promoting the "Good teaching, good learning" emulation movement, aiming to concretise the learning and follow-up of Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style. On the basis of thoroughly grasping the resolutions and directives of the Central Committee, the CMC, and the Defence Ministry on education and training, focusing on Resolution No. 1657-NQ/QUTW dated 20 December 2022, by the CMC on innovating education and training to meet the task requirements of building the Army in the new situation, the College has directed all departments, faculties and cadet management units to concretise the emulation movement into targets, contents, and criteria tailored to each target group and working area. Among these, the motto “The school's training quality is the units’ combat readiness capability” is taken as the consistent goal. The emulation content is comprehensive, focusing heavily on innovating teaching content and methods, improving lecture quality, promoting scientific research, and enhancing information technology and digital transformation in teaching. It also aims to build a teaching staff that is exemplary in character, excellent in expertise, and passionate about the profession, while fostering proper learning motivation, evoking self-awareness in study, training, and research, as well as the striving will to rise among cadets.
To ensure the movement truly goes into depth, the College links the “Good teaching, good learning” emulation movement with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style, the “Determined-to-win” emulation movement, and other campaigns of the Logistics sector, ensuring a unity between building motivation, nurturing moral qualities, and enhancing the capacity to perform assigned tasks. Over the years, the College has maintained the excellent instructor contests, model teaching sessions, class observations, and experience-sharing forums, promptly commending and replicating exemplary groups and individuals to create a widespread impact, turning the “Good teaching, good learning” emulation movement into a strong spiritual driving force, raising the willpower, innovation, and creativity among the staff, teachers, and cadets, contributing to comprehensively improving the quality of education and training, and building a comprehensively strong College.
Fully grasping President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, i.e. “Cadres are the root of all work” and “...without teachers, there is no education”, the College has focused on building a teaching staff that is “both red and expert”, alongside innovating training content, curricula, and teaching methods while promoting the active role of learners. Particularly, following its reorganisation and transfer between two governing bodies, the College faced the requirement to expand its training scale and functions. This occurred amidst a shortage of specialised lecturers, uncoordinated textbooks and materials, and limited experience in organising training for several new majors. In response to this situation, along with reviewing, adjusting, and supplementing the long-term and annual planning, sourcing, training, and fostering of cadres, the College proactively collaborated with the Logistics Academy to secure source of personnel, prioritise postgraduate training, and send lecturers to training courses in pedagogical skills, specialised knowledge updates, foreign languages, and information technology, etc. The College has fostered a proactive and creative spirit among lecturers under the motto of “simultaneously teaching and compiling textbooks; doing and drawing experience, gradually perfecting the training program”. Thanks to this approach, after only two years and with the support of the Logistics Academy, the College has mastered the training programmes for logistics specialties, ensuring unified, orderly, and high-quality training organisation. Graduated cadets have fundamentally met the task requirements well and have been highly appreciated by employing agencies and units. During the 2021 - 2025 period, the College basically ensured a full staff of lecturers and educational managers, in which over 86% of teachers held a bachelor's degree or higher, and nearly 23% held postgraduate degrees. The quality of the teaching staff has been progressively affirmed through teaching practice and professional competitions, with 32 teachers recognised as excellent teachers at the college level, 10 winning the title of excellent teachers at the Defence Ministry level, and the College winning the Second prize in the Competition for Lecturers and Teachers of Colleges and Intermediate Schools in the Army in 2022 and 2025.
Regarding the content and curriculum and closely following with the orientation of “teaching what the units need”, the College has structured its course curricula towards reducing theories and increasing practice, internships, and case study; promoted the application of active teaching methods; and enhanced the use of simulation models, electronic lesson plans, digital learning materials, and artificial intelligence to support teaching. The College has regularly coordinated with specialised departments, military hospitals, logistics agencies, and units to invite heads of military medicine, doctors, experts, and experienced cadres to participate in training, professional development, teaching, and practical guidance, contributing to “narrowing the gap” between training and logistics and military medical assurance at the units.

In addition, the College has attached special importance to promoting the activeness and creativity of learners, linked the emulation movement of “Good teaching” with “Good learning”, “Good training”, and “Strict discipline compliance”. It has also encouraged cadets to do the self-study and self-research; increased the practical training time, skills practicing, and development of situational handling capacity and working style, ensuring that graduates can quickly adapt to the working environment at agencies and units throughout the entire army.
Thoroughly grasping President Ho Chi Minh's teaching on training i.e. “practicality, and quality rather than quantity” along with the “3 viewpoints”, “8 principles”, and “6 combinations” in training and education, the College’s Party Committee and Board of Directors have resolutely deployed and completed the education and training quality assurance system; focused on perfecting the quality management system based on a unified and interlinked process, from building the output standards, organising training, examinations, inspections, and evaluations, to investing in training support conditions and receiving feedback from agencies and units employing graduated cadets. The College has persistently taken the output quality and the degree of meeting task requirements of cadets at their units as the mere measure of education and training. Based on the regular review of the responsibilities and tasks of each target group and training specialty, the College has promptly updated the output standards, supplemented curriculum content, improved teaching methods, and innovated examination, inspection, and evaluation in an objective, substantive, and regulation-compliant direction.
Together, the College has paid attention to investing in facilities, equipment, and digital infrastructure for the education and training; effectively managing and using the financial resources, prioritising the installation of specialised classrooms, practice rooms, simulation equipment, and information technology systems serving the training management and administration. In conditions where task requirements change frequently, the College has actively “transferred training funds among majors”, making contribution to enhancing proactiveness and flexibility in ensuring training conditions. To date, the College has put into operation 03 cooking rooms, 01 rehabilitation room, 01 training command room, and built a training vegetable garden and a traditional medicinal herb garden; at the same time, upgraded software for material management, timetable management, and the management and sharing of e-lectures, gradually forming a digital educational environment to meet the requirements of digital transformation in military education and training.
To ensure that the training process closely follows practical requirements, the College has regularly maintained a routine of conducting surveys and gathering feedback from graduated cadets and the units employing them. Annually, the survey results show that the majority of cadets express their satisfaction and high satisfaction with the training, management, and regulations of the College. Particularly, through some surveys conducted at various units, all logistics and military medical commanders have assessed the cadets are able to possess steadfast political stance, good morality, strict discipline compliance, meeting professional requirements right after receiving their tasks.
Bringing into play its 60-year tradition of development and the attained achievements, in the coming period, Logistics College 1 will fully grasp and vigorously implement Directive No. 07-CT/TW, dated 13 July 2026, by the Politburo on “Promoting the study and practice of Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, methodology, and style in the new development stage”, bringing the “good teaching, good learning” movement into greater depth, practically improving the training quality, and meeting the requirements of building the Army and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
